I am a huge snacker by nature, but always try to keep to be good and say "no thanks" to the occasional cookie or chocolate offered to me at work. But the recent cold weather has been making me crave snacks even more than usual. To avoid an out-of-control Saturday of stuffing my face with the leftover Christmas cookies at home, I decided to drop by the grocery store after work to stock up on healthy snacking (and sipping) options for the weekend.
Cassava chips, almonds and blueberries are a few of my all-time favorite healthy snacks. These Cassava Republic & Roots Co chips, although not really labelled as a "healthy snack," contain less fat and more fiber than ordinary potato chips. These really hit the spot for me while leaving me less guilty than I would have felt if I had a bag of Lays chips.
Almonds are a nutritious yet tasty snack. They contain healthy fats, fiber, vitamins and are a rich source of energy. They also help lower risk of artery blockage, strokes and high cholesterol. I love snacking on a handful of them or adding them with other dried fruits to create my own trail mix.
Blueberries are a superfood that contains loads of antioxidants and fibers. They strengthen eyes, the brain, the digestive system and blood circulation. I love blueberries with frozen yogurt, but I think they taste best on their own after being chilled in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Last but not least, I picked up this Twinings Camomile & Spiced Apple tea to try out. Soothing camomile mixed with the scent of spiced apples and cinnamon creates the perfect fall/winter brew. I also like that it is caffeine-free - perfect as a pre-bedtime drink.
And... the almonds are about half gone now as I'm finishing up this post. Oopsies.

Those chips look really interesting. Almonds are a great snack, I always have different kinds of nuts in the house. The tea sounds really good, does it taste strongly of Camomile or do you taste more of the spiced apple?

i'd say more camomile - but the cinnamony/apple scent adds a subtle note of sweetness to the usual chamomile fragrance
DeleteOoh yum the tea sounds delicious! I've never had cassava chips before but I do have a soft spot for sweet potato chips. Good for you for stalking up on healthy snacks... I'm trying to do the same and got trail mix with almonds, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, coconut... and chocolate chips!
