Organic Monday: Argan Oil

I've raved about Argan Oil multiple times, so after 3 months of using this every day, I think this winter-life-saver deserves a full blog post of its own. If you still haven't jumped on the Argan Oil bandwagon, this week's Organic Monday is here to tell you to... pronto!

Argan Oil originates from the argan tree in Morocco, where people use this famous oil for cooking. But Argan Oil's benefits stretch way beyond the culinary realm. Argan Oil is an awesome multi-purpose beauty product that can be used on skin, cuticles and hair. It is phenomenal in moisturizing and softening skin, which is what I love most about it. Since pure oil takes longer than usual lotions to sink into skin, I prefer using my Argan Oil at night. I add a few drops to my evening moisturizer, and apply the oil directly onto my nail cuticles, elbows, legs and ankles before bedtime.

Also, Argan Oil contains vitamin E and omega-6 fatty acids, which makes it great for damaged/sensitive skin. Apply it on acne scars and chapped skin to help skin heal better. So although applying an oil onto skin that's breaking out is somewhat counter-intuitive, Argan Oil in fact helps repair acne areas on skin. I think of it as feeding your weakened skin with the healthy, healing ingredients it needs to recover as fast and as perfectly as possible.

I've never tried Argan Oil on hair before, but upon research found that this oil is great for repairing split ends. Alternatively, massage the oil into dry hair before bed, and rinse out the next morning for softer locks.

I have sensitive skin and pores that clog easily, but I have not seen any issues with using Argan Oil. On the contrary it's been a life saver for my dry patches of skin this winter. I think I'd need less of it during the summer months, but I probably won't ever go without it completely... at least until I can find something even more amazing.

The brand is not matters most when it comes to beauty oils - what's most important is to choose a product that is 100% pure. Melvita's version is one of them, and is the most readily available option to me here in Hong Kong. Josie Maran's 100% pure Argan Oil is also easily accessible to many, and is sold on Sephora.com.

Missed last week's Organic Monday? I reviewed my all-time favorite toner here.

  1. I have not yet jumped on the Argon Oil bandwagon lol. It sounds wonderful, I get quite bad marks left behind from spots and if this could help with getting rid of them I would be happy to give it a try. The reason I haven't is because I heard people say that Bio Oil would do the same and if I am being honest it did nothing at all for my acne scars :(

    1. i think argan oil doesn't exactly fade spots, but instead if helps the healing process go better by keeping the skin nourished and avoiding unwanted scars that never fade :) good luck!
