The Sugar Lip Treatment products by Fresh are by far my favorite lip moisturizers/chap sticks ever. I'm have a bit of lipstick-phobia, because lipsticks tend to be drying and grab onto dry skin on my lips sometimes... not pretty. So instead, I always prefer tinted treatments or balms. I love Sugar Lip Treatments because these offer a great array of shades that nourish while adding color to my lips. Unlike many other lip butters or moisturizing lipsticks on the market, Sugar is essentially still a chapstick, so above all else, it truly moisturizes and protects my lips.
When I first fell in love with the Sugar Lip Treatment back in college, they only offered it in the original clear shade. Since then, a beautiful array of reds, berries and corals have been added to the line. I've been wanting to try all the other shades badly, but with the hefty price tag on these ($22 USD each), I've only tried out the Rose shade. My wallet could not keep up with all the other pretty colors that came after that unfortunately!
Thanks to the Sephora's Fresh holiday sets at Christmas, I finally treated myself to this beautiful mini set of 6 to try out all the shades that I've wanted to. Although these sets are no longer available, I thought swatches and a quick review would be helpful if you're on the fence about these or can't decide which shade to try.
All shades of the Sugar Lip Treatment have the same consistency - a buttery, smooth moisturizer, similar to vaseline but less greasy. They all have the same citrusy scent that smells kind of like lemon pound cake... yummy and refreshing. The treatment contains essential oils that plump and moisturize the lips, vitamins A, C, E to keep lips healthy, and SPF 15 to protect lips from the sun. What more can I ask for in a chapstick?
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments offer both sheer and vibrant shades.
Sheer Shades - light washes of color that let your lip color peek through
Rose is a sheer tint of red, just enough to even out your lip color and brighten your complexion. I love this for everyday wear, great for neutral makeup or even a nude face.
Honey is a sheer nude that evens out your lip color but keeps your lips muted, perfect option to pair with more dramatic eyes.
Passion is a deeper red but goes on lighter than it looks in the tube. On my lips it comes off as the perfect true red. Great for if you're not comfortable wearing dark colors on your lips, but would like to rock a lighter version of the classic red (like me!)
The original shade (brown tube on the far right) is clear. Good for layering under your favorite lipsticks.
Vibrant Shades - highly pigmented colors that look like true lipsticks
Coral is a vibrant orangey red. I normally can never pull off oranges but this shade is close enough to a red for me to feel comfortable. Coral would look great with a tan.
Berry is a plummy red that is warm and sultry. Great for winter time. I love this for nights out or special dinner dates.
