I've been feeling a bit down in a rut lately - I blame homesickness. And long distance relationships. And time difference. And just general uncertainty in life. But there's always the fat kid in me that easily seeks solace in comfort food - ie. carbs and sugar. I do try my best to be healthy most of the time, but here are so-bad-yet-so-good things that I've been reaching for lately.
The condensed milk & butter toast is a local Hong Kong tea time favorite. It's so easy to make but is soooo good. Simply spread butter then condensed milk onto fresh toast, and you're left with the most indulgent breakfast/tea time treat. Another variation is swapping the butter for peanut butter - the end result is an even creamier (but slightly less sweet as peanut butter evens it out) option.
It's funny because when I'm in Hong Kong I never get condensed milk on toast. Now that I'm in LA, it's all I want for breakfast. I think my taste buds are missing Honkee food!
And if there's a day that most warrants junk food, I'd say it's Tuesday. Because we all need something to get us through the week!
