The double cleanse is one of those things that had never previously crossed my mind, until the online beauty community taught me a thing or two about a good ol' second cleanse. Recently it's become a "how-did-I-go-about-without-it-my-whole-life-till-now?" type of ritual.
What got me started with double cleansing is the popular Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. I finally caved and got sucked into one of the oh-so-hyped cleansing balms! I've been wanting to try one for a while now and finally settled on this one because 1. it's Caroline Hirons approved, 2. it's easily found in the US and Hong Kong, 3. it's reasonably priced, and 4. it's free of essential oils that many other cleansing balms have, which can cause some to break out (and I highly believe I'm one of those people).
I absolutely enjoy using this cleansing balm. It goes on buttery smooth and sort of doubles up as a face massage. I see my makeup melt off and am left with a clean canvas for my usual Neutrogena face wash that I used as my second cleanse (more on that below). The only thing I'd highlight is that unlike many reviews that say you need the tiniest amount each time, I have made a huge dent after only a little over a week of using this.
Fragrance free, essential oil free, it really is a no-fuss, good-for-all type of cleansing product. I definitely recommend it.
Neutrogena products hugely vary across countries, so I've been hesitant to mention Neutrogena products that I specifically buy here in Hong Kong. But for your reference, I've been using this Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser for years now. It serves as my second cleanse following the Clinique Take The Day Off. Simple, does the job, smells like baby powder. A no-frills face wash for normal to oily skin.
