A sore, confused bump (*sigh*) that showed up in my brow today has reminded to me finally write about this new brow product that I've been using for the past 3 months or so - the relatively new NARS Brow Gel. I was colored matched with the darkest shade "Kinshasa." Massive love-hate relationship going on with this one.
I picked this up as an impulse buy after a NARS makeup artist spotted my bare brows and offered to touch them up for me. Given that I've never used anything on my brows except clear/lightly-tinted brow gel (as I have quite thick brows naturally), I was more than happy for someone to show me what claims to be an improved version of my usual brow gel.
The "Love" Part
What sold me on this was how pigmented it is. I've tried other "tinted" brow gels in the past that barely add any color. I can either lightly brush through my brows to add a bit of soft definition, or press down onto the skin if I want an even darker brow. On top of that, this brow gel has the strongest hold out of any brow gel I've used. I have long brow hairs that easily droop and loose its tidy brow shape, so a strong hold is essential for me.
The "Hate" Part
Now the downsides. First off, the brush clings on to way too much product. As in if I just swiped the applicator straight onto my brows, I'd look like Oscar from Sesame Street. So every day I literally take about 15-30 seconds to scrape the brush against the side of the tube to remove all excess product before applying. That aside, what really bums me out the most is the fact that I'm pretty much 100% sure this breaks me out. Since I've had this, the skin underneath my brows have constantly been brewing confused angry bumps that come and go. Given the bumps only show up there, and this product is the only thing I've been using on my brows, I'm almost positively certain this is the culprit.
I'm still struggling as I can't help but reach for this product every day, because I really do like how it makes my brows look. Does anyone else know of other brow gels that give great color and hold?
