Things I Love | March

March has always been my least favorite month of the year. Not only are there no public holidays, there's also not much to look forward to. This year however, March has been usually kind to me, packed with good food and happy times. I'm also very excited that the weather is finally warming up in Hong Kong. As much as I hate the stickiness and humidity, I'd choose the heat over the cold any day.

Beauty wise it's been a month of trying new products as well as re-discovering old ones. The NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base has been the winner of the month - I've finally found an eye primer that actually works its magic on me! It works so well on both powder and cream eyeshadows. Speaking of cream eyeshadows, the one that I've been reaching for almost every day has been MAC Paint Pot in "Groundwork." It's the best one-swipe-wonder product I've come across, adding subtle contouring to the eye. It's so easy that I find myself not wanting to reach for any of my other eyeshadows!

March was also the month I discovered a new favorite lip gloss formula - the Lancome Gloss in Loves. After discovering shade 202 (review), I went back for shade 383 (review), which has become my favorite of the 2. The only complaint I have is the button snap closure of the tube which easily comes undone in purses - I just experienced my first lip gloss explosion yesterday...

If you're looking for a barely there rosy blush, Chanel Joues Contraste in Rose Petale is the one for you. It's far less pigmented than most of my blushes, but for work days I actually prefer a muted blush color to add just some life to my 8am morning face. Very subtle, yet very pretty.

My final favorite of the month is Bruno Mars. He's one of my favorite musicians, so being able to watch his first ever concert in Hong Kong last night felt like checking off a major bucket list item for me! His albums are great, but his live performance was way more amazing. Best concert I've ever been to! Ever since his concert I've been looping his Unorthodox Jukebox album all weekend.

And then comes April - who's ready for Spring? :)

  3. I'd love to see Bruno Mars, he must have been incredible. Groundwork looks like it would be a good base for lots of shadows.

  7. Oh no, so sad to hear about the lipgloss opening in your bag! I love the pixi balms, and my biggest pet peeve with them is that they do the same thing-- the cap always comes off! I'm going to look into the groundwork paint pot it looks so pretty! I've been using bare study basically every day this past month! You're so right, they're perfect for just putting on without any work!

  9. Concert! You know, I've never been to a big concert before. I went to indie band performances when I was at Uni in Australia, but that's about it. I guess I'm kinda claustrophobic >_< LOL!

  12. I found your blog via Jaye (Bed in the Kitchen)'s rave and I'm kicking myself for not discovering it earlier! You run an amazing blog!

The NARS Pro Prime is definitely a game changer, even the most crease-able shadows are able to stay all day! x

  15. Funny enough, I've always felt the same way about March! There is always so much excitement about January because of the new year and everyone is so passionate and ready for a fresh start. Then February is about keeping up with those resolutions, Valentine's Day, etc. March is just...well...not so exciting. Still, I'm so happy to hear that this past month went well for you. Good food and happy times? I don't think it gets much better than that. Here's to a wonderful April too!

  18. haha guess what - this was also my boyfriend's first ever "big" concert! i'm glad it was a bruno mars one so he had a great first concert experience. i'm a bit claustrophobic (and lazy) too, so i always opt for the seated stands instead of the standing crowd up close to the stage haha
